What we have been reading - 6th May 2026

Here's what caught our eye recently:

Money tips for people who hate money: Oh boy, so many nuggets of wisdom in this article.

Life is Existential Uncertainty: You can't take it with you, remember that.

Is Your Cautious Retirement Spending Doing More Harm Than Good?: A good follow on from the last article. We use retirement withdrawal strategies that help our clients spend as much as they possibly can. If you don't have a withdrawal strategy in place, or after reading this article you realise it's too conservative, you know where we are.

How I Finally Stopped Caring About Spending:  And if after reading the previous two articles you just still can't spend, this article is for you.

Hairdryer or Lighter?:  Making money is easy nowadays. Place a bet on the Polymarket for the highest temperature in Paris on April 25th and then pop along to the weather sensor with a hairdryer.

Amazon is the black hole in your budget:  Ha! Yes! This made me laugh.

Happy Weed Day:  If investing was easy, we'd all be gizillionaires. The story of the cannabis stocks is such a good one to remember. "Everyone "knew" this was going to be huge. It felt obvious. And that's usually when it's the most dangerous."

FINALLY:
Two podcasts that I have loved recently:
Scott Galloway and Andrew Huberman: Male Roles, Obligations and Options for Building a Fulfilling Life:  I love listening to Scott Galloway, not because I always agree with him (I don't) but he really makes me think. As a mother of two boys and a girl, this was really powerful. If you are easily offended or don't like bad language, skip it. Scott doesn't mince his words. He goes where many other don't, or won't. You won't regret giving it your time though.
Paul Tudor Jones and Patrick O'Shaughnessy: Lessons from 50 Years in Markets:  The opening story will hook you, but it just gets better. Paul Tudor Jones is one of the worlds most famous and successful traders. But that's not the takeaway from this conversation. It's a lesson in how to live a good life. Paul says, "The other reason that I really enjoy trading is I'd like to make an absolute pot of money so I can give it away. I got so many causes that I want to give to that I actually feel like this is the pursuit of nobility. I feel it's a privilege to wake up and I just hope I freaking kill it, so I can give it away."

ENJOY!
